A new Xubuntu version is released every 6 months; LTS releases are released every 2 years. Regular Xubuntu releases are supported for 9 months and the LTS releases for 3 years.

Xubuntu 17.10 was mostly a maintenance release in which the migration of Xfce to GTK3 was prepared.
Xubuntu 17.04 was mostly a maintenance release in which the migration of Xfce to GTK3 was prepared.
Xubuntu 16.04 is an LTS version. In 16.04, Ubuntu Software Center was replaced by GNOME Software. Winners from a community wallpaper contest were included with the release for the second time.
