Marketing, Promotion and Artwork

Xubuntu always needs people interested in marketing and promoting the project. The marketing team maintains the Xubuntu website and other web assets, including social media outlets. In addition, the marketing team works on several projects. Our Marketing wiki lists all the current marketing and promotion projects we are working on as well as ideas for future projects.

Along with the Marketing wiki, the best way to get in touch with us is our development IRC channel #xubuntu-devel on Freenode.

One of the easiest ways to give back to the Xubuntu community is telling others about Xubuntu. Possibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Join or start a Local Community Team and get involved in advocacy, activities, talks and provide friendly support in your local community and language
  • Give a talk at your local Linux User Group or other technical group on Xubuntu
  • Join the Xubuntu marketing team and assist in their promotion and advocacy efforts to help promote Xubuntu
  • Generally, should show your friends the power of Free Software, spread the word and raise general awareness around Xubuntu

If you are more artistic than literary, you can take part in creating the Xubuntu desktop looks by contributing artwork and helping design the various aspects for the next release of Xubuntu.

The Xubuntu team is usually planning or working on at least some artwork projects for the release. These projects can be found in the Roadmap. It is primarily encouraged to help the artwork team with these projects.

If you wish to contribute new artwork ideas to Xubuntu, please send your ideas on the Xubuntu developer mailing list for discussion. Sending new ideas is especially useful in the Planning phase of a release. Please note that messages that contain large attachments will go into the moderation queue, so it’s encouraged to start with an introduction email without attachments.

If you have some artwork, specifically themes for Xfce ready, you can also send them to to make them available for a wider audience.

If you have found a bug in the Xubuntu artwork, please see the bugs for xubuntu-artwork at Launchpad.
